Earthquake Proof Kit to Survive

After any earthquakes in the Canterbury region of New Zealand, a first world class country you saw the vast gathering of the country rallying its resources to deal with this catastrophe. Earthquake devastation has been seen all over the world in places such as Haiti and Chile and it rattled the lives of general daily people. It poses the quiz, of how prepared anyone is. Regardless of where you live this narrative is a short explanation of what I have done to prepare and be as earthquake ready as I can.

Earthquake hazards.

Earthquake & Tsunami In Japan

I started off by identifying potential hazards in and exterior my house that I saw as a threat or danger to me and my family. This included locking away garden tools in a gather cupboard, ensuring photos on the walls were secured with blue tac for added security. I also secured all my ornaments so it would not move off the mantle piece or shelf. Someone else place of hazard were my books on the bookshelf. I secured the books by running a gather wire over the shelf in two places so the books were unlikely to fall. I secured all my shelving to the walls and took anyone risky down from high above which were there for display or storage. By the end my house was seeing quite minimalist but very neat and tidy and earthquake ready.

Preparing a plan and survival gear.

I moved onto putting together my survival kit. I invested in a tent for shelter, sleeping bags and compiled plenty of water, food and healing supplies for my survival kit. In my survival kit included a wind up emergency torch which when wound up for three minutes gave you thirty minutes of radio time and the same goes for the torch. It also had a special feature where I was able to charge my cell phone on. Food was non perishable food such as canned and energy packed food. Also I managed to put in a bag with essentials for each man in the family such as clothes and foremost documents just in case. I also added a gas cooker and a family emergency plan on where to meet and what to do as a family.

Are you going to be ready?

In essence a exiguous time spent now getting ready can help you and your family be best prepared to face a difficult situation. You may be left without water and power for any days. Take some responsibility to help gather you and your family in the case the big one should strike.
